My How Time Flies!

I'm Back....

Just a quick post to show a couple of finishes.  First up is Heavenly Paradise from C Street Sampler Works and Matilda Driver from The Heart's Content. These were both completed in Mid 2013 but never got around to posting pictures.

Both of these ares stitched on 32-ct linen using the recommended threads. I started the Matilda Driver a long time ago.  It is suppose to be finished over 1 but I stitched mine over two.

Next up is my finish of Mary's Sampler II from Plum Street Samplers.   This was stitched on a scrap piece of 35-ct linen using the recommended threads. Now to finish it into a small cushion for Christmas 2014.

My new obsession is the 52/60-ct Lakeside Uneven weave linen and Gloriana Tudor Silks.  This is the second piece that I have stitched using this linen and silk.  Here is my version of The Crown Sampler from Plum Street Samplers. I personalized this on the bottom with the month completed, my initials, and year.

I have two other finishes but need to take the photos before I can post.

Happy Stitching...

I love your finishes as well. Holy Moly I don't know if I could see the 50/62 linen! That sounds like torture.
Your little Plum Street piece is a beauty! Congrats on finishing them up!

Glad to see you posting again - your stitching is absolutely wonderful! Did you stitch over one or two on the 52/60 count?

Gorgeous finishes!!
You always produce the loveliest work, I am so impressed with your ability to complete so many samplers. I can't cope with anything above 32 count so I am very, very impressed.

You sure do beautiful work, Robert. I really love your Crown Sampler with the Tudor silks and the high count linen. May have to give that a try myself. Keep up the great work.

Quite an accomplishment! I taught my son to cross stitch when he was in middle school but with 3 children now he hardly has time to stitch. He plans to teach his sons to stitch so the tradition will be carried on in our family. Congratulations on your most recent work - beautiful!

Beautiful finishes...absolutely LOVE the crown sampler. I've started it too...but using the recommended threads...wish I had used the silks you did.
Jealous!! I adore these. I am doing a bunch of little SB easter/spring designs and now Im dying to get back to samplers. They are wonderful!
The Crown sampler is just fantastic. Paula came to our guild in April and was wonderful. We are stitching this for our annual project and hope mine turns out as lovely.

Back in the Game!

Once again I have been away from my blog for way too long.  I get caught up in a lot of other things rather than posting pics of starts and finishes. These last couple of months have gone by way too fast. I have received a couple of messages from some followers making sure I was okay and looking forward to an update. I do have a few finishes and will spread these out over the next couple of weeks.

First up is one that had been in the WIP pile for a long time -- Not For Us Alone from Amy Mitten.  Amy taught this piece at the Tudor Rose Sampler Guild back in the early 2000's (I cannot remember the date/year that I took the class). A friend of mine took the class with me and she had finished hers a long time ago. She recently moved and hung the sampler in her dining room.  So needless to say every time I go over to her house it was taunting me to get mine finished.  So here is my completed Not For Us Alone.

Anniversaries of the Heart Finish and A Flamestitch!

As promised in my previous post, here is a brief update on some other stitching progress.

During April and the first part of May I worked on finishing up my Anniversaries of the Heart by Blackbird Designs. This has been a work in progress for a long time so I was glad to get it finished.
Anniversaries of the Heart by Blackbird Designs Worked on 40-ct Lakeside Reindeer using Gentle Arts, Weeks Dye, and Crescent Colours Started in April 2010 and finished in May 2013
The hardest part was deciding on the personalized blocks for the family members that I want to include on the sampler.  They include by father-in-law, grandparents, great grandparents, my mother, father, wife, son and daughter. I inserted a saying that is special to me and my family in the the alphabet block at the top of the sampler.  "As for me and my house will serve the Lord" - Joshua 24:15

And changed the bottom of the November block by adding a bird from another Blackbird chart.

And of course the last block for …

Amy Mitten's Friesland Winder's Keeper - Part 1

I have been a big fan of Amy Mitten and her designs since I took one of her classes a few years ago. The project was one of her mystery classes "Not For Us Alone". I still have not finished the piece but hope to this year. She had some other mystery pieces available for sale during the class and I purchased "Tour Van Holland" -- a Friesland style sampler based on her travels in the Netherlands and Germany. I finished this sampler a couple of years ago and it is one of my favorites. When Amy announced her on-line tutorial this year, I could not resist signing up for Friesland Winder's Keeper. Once the kit came in at the end of last month all other projects were tossed aside to work on this wonderful piece.

I have completed all of the stitching but need to work on the back stitching around the pieces for finishing the keeper. The second part of the class will be at the end of March so I do have a little bit of time to get the back stitching completed.
