I can't believe that it has been nearly two months since my last post. But thanks for your patience with me.
Last month, the Greater Dallas EGA hosted Diane Clements to teach us her Autumnal Jewels. The class took place over two days and there was some pre-stitiching to be done before class. But once I got completed I just could not help but work a little bit further - just saved the stitches that I needed help on. Needless to say I was able to complete most of the top for the Autumnal Jewels box in class - except the gold border which I was able to complete a couple of days after class. Now I just need to work on the finishing of the box and the smalls. Why is it always easier to focus on the stitching and not the finishing? The top of the box is about 5 inches square.
I have been spending most of my down time just relaxing with needle, linen, and threads - lots of thread, I have two finishes to show you.
First up is 1787 Ellennor Whitehouse Sampler from the Fall 2013 Sampler & Antique Needlework Quarterly. When I was in Arizona in August to attend the Attic's Summer School I was able to see the original which is in the collection of Vickie LoPiccolo Jennett. Jean and Vickie did a conversion to the Tudor Silks so that we could work this on the 50-ct linen (actually 52 threads wide by 60 threads high per inch). This was my first time working on the 50-ct linen with the Tudor silks and I really liked it.

Another sampler that I picked up on my travels to Arizona was Mary Ann Farmer 1834 from Tanya of The Scarlett House. I replaced Mary's name with the name of my daughter, along with her date of birth. This was a lot of fun to stitch. I really like the bouquet of flowers in the center along with those in the urns. And just look at that flower band across the top. Just a great sampler and the colors are just fantastic.

I am currently working on the 1804 Ruth Passmore Sampler which is also in the Fall 2013 edition of the Sampler & Antique Needlework Quarterly. I will post an update on that progress next week.
